Places to See Goa

Dudhsagar waterfall
Located 60km from Panaji, its name means ‘ocean of milk’. You can hire a taxi from Panaji. The waterfall rises from the mighty Western Ghats from a height of 602m. The frothy waterfall looks like a stream of milk flowing down the mountains, and so the name. It is one of Goa’s most beautiful nature spots. During the Monsoons, the waterfall leaps and bounds powerfully.

People believe in a myth here: many years ago a powerful and rich king who lived on the top of a mountain in the Western Ghats. Fringing the palace were beautiful gardens and a lake. The king’s daughter and other ladies used to go to the lake to bathe. Her maid would bring her a cup of sugared milk in a pure gold jug. Once a prince passed by the lake. Upon seeing him, the princess poured the milk she was drinking into the lake so that he couldn’t see her. People believe that it is the same sugared milk that once flowed in the lake and the waterfalls.
