It is located eight km from Margao. This beach is lined with pine trees, an uncommon sight on Goa’s beaches. The Church of St Thomas is famous here.

The town gets its name from Devachaar. A Devachaar is a spirit that is benevolent. A temple dedicated to it was located at Fardo Vaddo, before the whole village converted to Christianity in the 16th century.
